One bettor at BetMGM had an extremely eventful Sunday.
This particular bettor wagered a whopping $2.56 million (to win as much as $2.3 million) across 23 NFL bets on Sunday. And those bets were made on only four games — all of which were played at the same time.
The bettor had seven bets on three games: Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Football Team, Detroit Lions vs. Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tennessee Titans. There were also two wagers on the Green Bay Packers vs. Houston Texans game.

The broadcasting of sports is weaker than the past. There are some exceptions but the days of Jack Whitaker and Jim McKay are in the distant past. Now we get sideline reporters “(Insert coach’s name) TOLD ME...” in football. As if the coach didn’t tell anyone else. The over-infatuation with superfluous stats especially in baseball. Telling stories by analysts of their halcyon days when it has little or nothing to do with the game at hand. Athletes whom are self-centered and have little or no connection with my ideals. TV ads that are nauseating. The constant interruption with on-screen graphics. I could continue but as you can tell my devotion to sports has been on the decrease for a while. :-)
I suppose there’s an iota of irony there... however, there’s an important distinction between actively “canceling and causing harm” to someone and simply voting with your feet or wallet.
If someone is worth many millions of dollars, why not bet a couple million in order to enjoy a Sunday rooting for a number of things to happen? This guy betting $2 million is probably the same as me gambling a couple hundred. Not going to miss it if I lose it all.

The bottom line being that the first person gave that money up by choice, not by the government taking it away. And he got something in return for it (entertainment value, or a boat, or a house for himself)
The NEXT person who handled that money got to buy stuff from other people... and then those people got to buy stuff.
That money did not ‘disappear’ because he gambled it.

That money does not disappear- the NEXT person who receives it starts the process all over- THEY have 2.5 million to spend. So those people have jobs and can buy health care.
This is not a ‘gambling based economy’, stupid. It is economics 101. A person spending his own money gets something in return.
However if the government TAKES that money, the person gets nothing in return. So it is theft.
