Agreed. And it was a freshman QB. Not their starter. He was giving younger players reps. Why not let your freshman QB experience a full rep. Taking a knee is for closer games when the starters are still mostly in.

Back in the early 2000’s, my son was on a high school football team and they were in a playoff bracket game. They were down and got very near the goal line. When they scored the touchdown, the whole team erupted with jubilance.

Yep, they were penalized with an ‘excessive celebration’ call. The extra yardage didn’t help the other team and we did win.

Penalizing high school kids for celebration has been going on for a long time. Of course, this WAS in California.

Apropos on this Feast of The Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ....

My answer:

"I have a divine right to Freedom of Religion in these United States. I only kneel with my left knee for my wife. I only kneel with my right knee for my Lord, King, and God.

PERIOD."

I went to grad school with the Nebraska Chancellor and was pretty good friends during that time. I remember telling him that Nebraska was making a HUGE mistake when they left the Big 12. They cut their nose off to spite their face because, by God, they hated Texas.

His comeback to me was that Nebraska would benefit in many ways beyond athletics.

Yea, right.

I was taught that scoring from that close in the final minute when the game is no longer in doubt is bad sportsmanship, but who cares about sportsmanship any more?

LMAO!!! It has come to this for Cornhusker football. A coach apologizing for running up the score against them. Did Tom Osborne ever apologize when he would frequently put up 50+ points against inferior opponents?

LOL, I don't think Spurrier cared that night in Arizona.
