To Freeper Lenovo owners - would you buy again ? ( vanity )

Greets from Japan . MY HP Touchsmart all-in-one ( 11 years old and my downstairs PC ...6 year old Dell upstairs ) is slowly dying and I am looking at new all-in-ones . The HP gave me many problems over the years - even when it was new - so I am not considering an HP this time around . Dell's technical support so-so and they cost a few hundred dollars more than Lenovo here in sushiland . I would rather not give the business to a Chinese company but the prices are reasonable and NEC in Japan handles technical/ phone support . Dell's is China . I'd be interested in hearing Lenovo owners' experiences as I trust my fellow Freepers advice and opinions more than what I can find on the internet ( reviews , etc...) . Cheers ...

Typing this on a Lenovo All-in-One that I got for Christmas.
No issues with it other than annoying Lenovo bloatware that I can’t seem to get rid of. .

I know what happene to it: Hunter got it from a thrift store and reimaged it and then donated it to the ccpussa-fund. Got a 20 million crackbate.

You are dreaming if you think there are multiple manufacturers in different countries producing the same computer product. They all come from one source—China—but are branded differently to suit market needs. Same as the automotive parts market which is a huge joke. Again there’s only one manufacturer for the product. There’s no market duplication it’s too inefficient and too costly.

Had a computer custom built over 10 years ago. Spec’d much of it. Chose a high end chassis for the components. Still going very strong.

My workhorse is a high end Thinkpad running Linux. Since I avoid anything Chinese if I can help it, I sooo want my next work laptop to be a Dell — but I HATE Dell’s designs. Dell made great Latitudes 10 years back but the modern incarnations look and feel cheap. I *do* love Lenovo Thinkpads. If politics wasn’t a factor I would buy another in a heartbeat.

My wife’s W10 machine is a Lenovo...
Don’t know what possessed me to buy that POS...
Slow, slow, slow, and CD drive never worked... (That’s the Lenovo, not the wife... Although she’ll be 82 in Jan)
All she used it for is emails and banking...
Now 2-years old this Dec and it is going into junk pile in January...

My desktop computers (2) & servers (2) are all HP... Years & years of no problems...

My laptops are Toshiba (W8.1) (6-years old) and HP Pavilion (W10) (3-months old)... No problems...

I am writing this on a 2011 lenovo Ideapad. It has served me well, although I had to replace the hard drive earlier this year.

I would say Lenovo is rather more in bed with China than Dell.

Some years ago, Fujitsu had a reputation for really good computers, but they seem to have vanished from the US.

My favorite laptop was a Gateway; I would have been a regular customer forever-and built or at least assembled in Sioux Falls, SD or was it Sioux City, Iowa. Very durable. I wish they were still around.

I bought an ASUS Republic of Gamers system several years ago and was suprised by how reliable it has been with zero hardware problems. ASUS is from Taiwan. Hate Windows 10, but that is another story.

“I would rather not give the business to a Chinese company...
There’s your answer.”

These days, you’re giving business daily to Chinese companies if you buy something more technologically complex that a roll of toilet paper. You might as well get something good. I like that Dell’s and Lenovo’s are easier to repair than many.

If you can hold off for a month, you may see the first ARM Mac.
