In the second presidential debate between George H.W. Bush and Michael Dukakis, moderator Bernie Shaw asked Dukakis a question on violent crime: Governor, if Kitty Dukakis were raped and murdered, would you favor an irrevocable death penalty for the killer? Although the question was awkwardly phrased, and jarring in its tastelessness, Dukakis shouldnt have been surprised by the subject. Here is the video and the Cliffs Notes version:
"Governor, if Kitty Dukakis were raped and murdered, would you favor an irrevocable death penalty for the killer?''

Most memorable for me is:
“And you’d be in jail !”
“Where am I? Why am I here? (close)
by Admiral Stockdale when trapped on a stage with Al Gore and Dan Quayle”
The things is with Stockdale ... he was a great man but no one knew who he was. In politics you need some name recollection. I remember a photo showing Stockdale at a campaign function ... wearing a name tag. LOL
Probably be a campaign killer if he said that nowadays
