Actor Robert Downey Jr. joined several colleagues from the Marvel Comics Universe in defending fellow cast member Chris Pratt after he was attacked on social media.
Pratt, who plays Peter Quill (Star Lord) in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, was voted the worst Chris in Hollywood after his name was noticeably absent from a political fundraiser that included several of his Avengers costars.

Jezebel even published an article outing Pratt as a Republican despite acknowledging that he has never officially declared allegiance to either party.
Robert Downey Jr., who suits up as Iron Man in the Marvel Comics Universe, came to Pratts defense in an Instagram post Tuesday. He shared a photo of the two of them together on set with the caption, What a world The sinless are casting stones at my brother, Chris Pratt A real Christian who lives by principle, has never demonstrated anything but positivity and gratitude AND he just married into a family that makes space for civil discourse and (just plain fact) INSISTS on service as the highest value. If you take issue with Chris,,, Ive got a novel idea. Delete your social media accounts, sit with your OWN defects of character, work on THEM, then celebrate your humanness @prattprattpratt I #gotyerbackbackback.
Director James Gunn also tweeted in support of Pratt, saying that his personal views were not necessarily identical to those held by any church.
Zoe Saldana Gamora on Guardians of the Galaxy added her own words of wisdom by way of Tupac Shakur: No matter how hard it gets, stick your chest out, keep your head up and handle it.
Your family, friends, colleagues & everyone whos ever crossed paths with you knows your heart and your worth! she added.
The Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo also took a moment to defend Pratt, adding, You all, @prattprattpratt is as solid a man there is. I know him personally, and instead of casting aspersions, look at how he lives his life. He is just not overtly political as a rule. This is a distraction. Lets keep our eyes on the prize, friends. We are so close now.
This used to be called 'extortion'.
Chris Pratt is a Christian actor in Hollywood..........................
Yep. An Actor who just wants to stay out of the political fray and stick to his job. Acting. Props to Chris.
Nice career you’ve got there. It would be a shame if it were to catch on fire one night. All we’re asking is to wet our beaks...
I assume "his personal views" means "Pratt's personal views."
That said, would it be bad if Pratt's (or Gunn's) personal view were identical to those held by any church? If so, why?
Wow. You’d think from the comments that Pratt was guilty of some horrible crime... turns out he’s a Christian and (GASP!) possibly a Republican.
Only good thing about this virus - it shut down Hollywood.
As far as I’m concerned, the entire film industry could drop into the Pacific and the world would be better off. We already have enough stupid super hero movies to last until the end of time. Just slap a new title on the beginning and put them out again and viewers would be too stupid to even know it’s something they’ve seen already.
He, James Woods, John Voight and Kevin Sorbo can be drinking buddies. ;)
They’re only defending him because he’s a fellow Hollywood actor. They don’t feel anything like that toward other Christians.
Reading those “defenses”, only Downey offered real support and full throated defense. Good for him.
Good for both Chris and Robert. It’s nice to see actors willing to stand up for their beliefs and for each other.
Just please don’t tell me that James Franco is a lefty... :(
So what I see here is a fraction of society that embraces and admires homosexuality and other abhorrent behavior and attacks conservative Christians for their beliefs....I think I read about this type of behavior in a book once. Now let me see, where did I read that.....OH YEAH now I remember. And I also remember what happened to those lost people.
Prediction. The “friends” will begin to fall away as they face punishment from the members of the Hollywood Un-TDS Activities Committee

Oh, and also props to Dean Cain.
I think Downey Jr. is more of a “Bushie” Republican, than a fan of Trump, but in Hollywood, that puts you to the Right of Attila the Hun.
The Avengers make money. Chris Pratt is one of the cornerstones of that as the Marvel pictures move on.
There is no way they will allow him to be “cancelled.”
Because while they are democrats in Hollywood—the first thing they are is greedy. And greed conquers all.
Oh well...as Rush Limbaugh would say, “It’s the seriousness of the charge.”
I don’t feel sorry for these women. Did they never hear of the casting couch?
Franco may well be a pig, but I would expect that from a Hollywood celebrity.
My kid is in college and it is tough. Time was, one could just be silent and get by. Now, your professors expect you to be active in promoting their Communism. Silence won’t get you a pass.
Complain? To whom? The professor is also the Dean and the head of the complaints council.
That is because Downey's faith led him out of the drug-addled hell that destroyed his life and career -- a hell sparked by his own drug-addicted father, who started smoking pot with his son at SIX YEARS OLD!
Then your kid is in the wrong college.............
I am shocked about Mark Ruffalo doing anything to defend a potentially conservative Christian.
