Mobile IDs coming to Florida in 2021

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) — If you’re prone to losing your wallet or leaving your driver’s license behind, there will soon be another way to carry your ID.

The state of Florida is getting ready to roll out a new mobile ID system.

“We expect it to grow pretty quickly and become pretty popular,” said Bay County Tax Collector, Chuck Perdue. “It seems to be very successful, very well received around the country.”

Florida is one of about a dozen states throughout the country introducing the new system, in which a resident with a valid driver’s license can access their ID through a mobile app. Florida’s mobile ID app is currently being developed.

A small step to mandatory implant or carry papers. These little steps invading privacy worries me.

As opposed to immobile IDs.

A small step to mandatory implant or carry papers.

You’re already carrying your driver’s license.

We already have to have our temperature checked by having our forehead or our hand scanned. How soon before the same procedure is required to see if we have had a vaccine?

And that’s only a step away from ID2020 (bill gates and co.)

That’s a bit strange to read. I was once stopped and did not have my driver’s license with me. I merely told the cop my number, and he looked it up on his computer. My picture comes with it.

It isn't simply carrying around pictures of your driver's license and insurance card in your phone, it is an app - an application *program*...

How much you want to bet the app requires virtually complete access to your phone? That would include location services etc.??? Well, maybe not in this first iteration. They might not want to scare people away. So maybe in the first few versions it'll be relatively innocuous - get people to really like the convenience etc. Then in a year or two (these people play the long game) there will be an update and some feature added or some such that require access to location services. From then on, big brother will know where you and your phone are, 24x7, who is in close proximity, if you're speeding, if you're at the liquor store again, if you're at that Trump rally, if you're frequenting unfavorable businesses rather than more favored businesses, if you were at the gun range...

But it will make it easier to confirm you are who you say you are.

As I am 75, and I occasionally forget my wallet when I change pants mid-day (did so yesterday), I have photos of both sides of my DL in my Favorites album on my iPhone.

Hopefully enough if I ever get stopped w/o my DL. Don’t need the app.

Suggest everyone do the same - so easy.

...if you’ve had the vaccine.

You haven’t? You’ve been in close proximity to someone who hasn’t had it? No admittance, flight, or grocery shopping for you!

And for those “poor” people who can’t afford a smartphone, a “free” Iphone 11? (Paid for by you and me.)

I have no problem with this. I already have Samsung Pay on my phone so I dont need paper money, a QR code on the phone with my hunting and fishing license from I-Sportsman, get rid of wallets!

Just carry my retired military ID and I can just use phone and go anywhere, sweet dream
