How many birds were killed by this turbine windmill? PETA and the SPCA want to know?

Hungry, not-working farmers/help don’t care. Free birds for dinner instead of years old cheese. /sarc

MidAmerican Energy took 46 wind turbines offline after blades fell in rural Iowa...Iowa is a leading state in the wind industry.

I knew some people about 25 years ago who had a cell company lease an acre out of their 50 or so and built a tower on a hill at the back corner of the property.

At the time they were getting $1000/month set for 5 years then renewed in 5 year increments adjusted for inflation.

That’s around $1700/mo. today.

I remember the first windmill that went up outside of Palm Springs, CA. Its blades were about six feet in length and it spun like a turbo prop.

Well in this case it’s a family member who’s already getting royalties from oil....so there’s nothing he couldn’t buy if he wanted to. But they’re not that kind of people.....still live in the farmhouse they built when they first got married.

They’ve begun painting them black in some cases to prevent the birds dying. But they look worse than the white ones.

Cost of wages....it will always boil down to that.

Heck we've got high school kids getting jobs at $15. hourly.....and Tibetans in NYCity working in manufacturing getting 35% above the going rate.

That's why they want all the immigration coming in because they settle for lower wages. This is why the clamor to open the border.....manufactures will bring their companies back but they want the wages kept lower so opening the borders would do that.

The big ones look like they twirl slowly, but the blades are about 200 or so long.

Tip velocity is just under speed of sound.

Those are babies compared to the newest ones for offshore installation. They are about 750 feet in diameter, about twice the size of these pikers in Iowa.

Wind energy is a pipe dream scam.

The round end of the blade that connects to the turbine is a bit over 5 feet in diameter while the blade is around 100 feet long.

Larger than most airplane wings ... The B-36 and Anatov’s are a bit bigger.

I was just reading about those....

In my hometown they put up several of these along a hillside....which look like toothpicks at a distance and ruined an otherwise picture perfect view of the rolling hills.........The residents on Mt.P said they hate them as they're noisy and they're constantly having to pick up dead birds around them. They all were sold a bill of goods that never panned out as the builders stated.

They wanted to put a windfarm offshore in Massachusetts. Ted Kennedy said. Didn’t want to see them (or avoid them) while out sailing.
