Everything can be streamed on demand. Parents of young children have the responsibility to cut their cable and subscribe to streaming services like Apple TV (available on Roku by the way) and moderate the content for their children accordingly.
True, broadcast TV has been in decline for many years now.
We are long since removed from a TV world, in which we had NBC, ABC, CBS, and some big cities had independent channels. We are even removed a long way from when the Fox network joined those Big Three broadcast networks.
Hopefully the good programming will always be available somewhere.
Yes, we cut the cord several years ago. The only time we watch network TV at our home (over an antenna) is during football season.
I think that has a lot to do with it. I have Great Pumpkin and the Christmas one on DVD. I would not have watched the broadcast anyway. I remember taping "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" during one of its annual showings in the late 80's or early 90's. When the DVD came out, I discovered that the TV telecast had been cut; probably because there are more commercials in a 30-minute broadcast than there were in the 60's.
“Apple TV currently has streaming rights for the Peanuts holiday specials.”
Yes, and Apple TV is (afaik) free, at least for the basic content. So you can probably just download the app and watch the Peanuts specials without paying anything.
I noticed on Amazon prime, you can’t stream some movies (even some old ones) without buying a subscription to a premium channel. Just doesn’t seem right.
Is that really true? Antenna sales have been surging in recent years and more and more channels continue to become available over the air as more people realize you don't have to pay for television at all.
