What are the penalties for voter fraud? What should they be?
My search of the internet came up with a confusing conglomeration that was hard to sort out and follow. States vary with laws and enforcement, and I think there is another designation specific for federal elections. Do any Freepers have a clear understanding of this?
Seems there aren't that many convictions for voter fraud, and penalties for those few convictions are light.
This is a big issue. There should be a severe enough penalty that would make people think twice before committing this crime.
If Congress could get serious about this, I'd like to see a mandatory prison sentence of 10 years without parole, and lifetime loss of voting privilege. Postal workers would not be exempt. Ignorance of the law shall not be an excuse. Extra scrutiny for postal workers and ballot counters. WDYT?
Loss of a finger.
But just so people don’t think I’m a dick, the offender gets to pick the finger they want to lose.
Ballot stuffing should be a capital offense especially when election officials are implicated.
Tar and feathers... the old school way.
With a RAT controlled House of Representatives this kind of reform is DOA.
Voter fraud should be prison for the person attempting the voter fraud and for the candidates that benefit from each attempt of voter fraud.
The penalties depend on who the prosecutors work for.
Also, I wish Trump would tweet something to the effect to remind people that (at least technically) intentional voter fraud is a felony (at least here in Texas). He’ll get lambasted and accused of trying to ‘suppress’ the vote, but the Dems will need a lot of help trying to steal this election, so it definitely would be good if the people considering it understand what in store for them, at least if they don’t succeed.
Because most vote fraud occurs in large 1-party-rule cities where the DA's this year have been refusing to prosecute criminals who share their ideology.
So what does it matter how stiff the penalties are, if it's going to be thrown out before it goes to court?
Anyone caught should lose their right to vote.
I am working for the election board in North Carolina. The Poll book has a notation showing if the mail-in vote has already been received. And, we won’t allow them to vote in person if it is marked.
And, if they vote in person and then mail in the absentee ballot, when it is received it will not be counted since they already voted in person.
If they do vote in person and then mail-in the absentee ballot - they will be committing a class 1 Felony.
Yep the only way!
If youre a democrat like Brenda Snipes, youll generally get this kind of a sentence.

We all know exactly what the penalty must be for anyone who aids, abets, commits or condones vote fraud. Just a few well-selected applications of that penalty might be enough to discourage a significant amount of fraud in the future.
If that penalty is ever going to be applied (ha), the time is coming very soon. Otherwise your vote for President is completely worthless from here on out (goodbye, Electoral College); your vote at other levels down the ballot may not be worth much more either.
What do we do if we say we didnt request nor mail in a vote?
Of course that is why the voting in the dead of night is so effective, since the voting board members will know who hasnt already voted.
That should be the minimum punishment.
