I’ll bet Jeff Bridges never thought he’d be best remembered as Jeffrey Lobowski, but there it is. Great movie, probably the best the Coen Brothers ever did, and that’s saying something. Here’s hoping Bridges gets well soon.
One of my favorite Bridges movie is “Blown Away.” It is a 1994 action-thriller, and it was specifically written for Bridges because he was “the most known unknown” actor in Hollywood.
Unfortunately the film still didn’t increase his profile because Tommy Lee Jones stole the show.
Enjoy a White Russian or three when you watch it. And fire up a doobie, if youre so inclined.
That was a good role. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
Seabiscuit had an outstanding cast.
Tobey MaGuire, William Macy, Chris Cooper.
But throughout the movie Bridges was Large and in Charge in the character of Charles Howard.
Prayers up for the Dude.

He was also in ARLINGTON ROAD...The ending of the film was strange...
Jeff was great in Peter Bogdanovich’s The Last Picture Show. Classic American movie with an all-star cast and Hank Williams soundtrack.
Also, the Fabulous Baker Boys. Probably a chick flick, but a good story with some comedy and romance. Beau and Jeff playing brothers—great casting.
Prayers for complete healing for JEFFrey, as Maude Lebowski would call him. I thought he was so cute in “King Kong” way back when.
Indeed. When I heard they were remaking, "True Grit," I was at best, skeptical. While I would not necessarily say he was a "better," Cogburn, his interpretation of the role, while different than Wayne's, was equally powerful.
I have the unopened box set of both versions waiting to be opened, along with a nice 18 year old Islay scotch, one of these rainy or snowy November nights coming up.
Never saw either, despite being a huge JW fan, but read the boot a couple of times.
Life is hard if you have to read the boot.
The biggest problem with the John Wayne film is Glen Campbell as La Boeuf - very poorly acted. Matt Damon, whom I loathe as a person, does much better with the role (I think snarky, self-righteous arrogance comes naturally to him).
As great as Jeff Bridges does as Cogburn, the remake is stolen by Hailee Steinfeld's performance as Mattie Ross.
Enjoy both of them!
“Starman” was really interesting.
VERY sorry to hear this. He is a good guy.
