Sacramento Bee News Guild Honeybee @SacBeeGuild · We have alarming news.
The owner of The Sacramento Bee is trying to tie journalists pay to the number of clicks their stories get.
Were urging the company to reconsider. Here's our letter to McClatchys new CEO about how this could hurt our community.

LOL- those who bemoan the “income gap” are putting in place procedures which will- wait for it now- widen the income gap..
I’d only write photo rich stories about girls in bikinis.
This would be a great time for them to go after the Hunter Biden corruption story!
The Ministry of Propaganda is hurting.
They must be utterly defeated.
Click bate.
Why am I not alarmed?
Wave of the future.
He who posts the dem PR pieces faster will get the most.
New name: The Click-bait Bee.
They are hardly about news any more, so just do what other websites do
.
I’d be well paid.
The Bee does a lot of good hard-news reporting and valuable investigative journalism. But it also is increasingly wasting resources on agenda-driven woke social justice reporting about societal inequities - articles that read like woke sociology-class essays and probably draw few readers. Its these articles that are threatened by a click-focused review standard. And this is what the progressive staffers are worried about.

Growing readership in places we’ve underservedrepairing relationshipstakes time. The Bee is working to fix this. The proposal would encourage us to ignore those stories in fear of lower page views. #NoPayForClicks 5/9

I’d rather they take pay away for false news.
Well, I’d post nude pics of Jennifer Lawrence in every story if I were a journo there, or at least say I was going to.... .......................
Sorry, but hasn’t that always been the case?
Reporters used to fight for the byline now it
seems articles are only written by three or more!
Getting an assignment to the municipal counsel meeting on the water plant upgrade would be a career crusher.
Good news reporters, if you learn to code, you get paid on the number of clicks you make.
I guess the guy who is assigned to write the “Around Town with Homer the Handyman” column is SOL.
