The Tennessee Vols football season has reached the point, after a 34-7 blowout home loss to the hated Kentucky Wildcats, where windows are being smashed by flying beer bottles and wives are looking for new relationships. Now 2-2 after back-to-back losses with Alabama coming to town Saturday, its getting ugly, especially on the Tony Basilio Show where this caller said its bad in his home.
Ive been watching Tennessee football for 30 years and I did something today that Ive never done, Vols fan said. I messed up and threw a beer bottle through a window and my wife left me.

Doesnt surprise me after the tantrums a lot of Vols fans were throwing when they were losing to Indiana in that toilet bowl matchup last year. Every team has their crazies but this seemed to be more than usual.
You’ve got to be lame if you break up over a stupid football game. UNLESS your wife forgot to bring you a beer back from the kitchen!
And a sammich:)
Well, I guess they didn’t have a very strong marriage.
That’s too bad.
Been married for 30 years and I can’t imagine divorcing over a sports game.
Well, if I didn’t bring a sandwich AND a beer to my husband...different story altogether! LOL!
At some point any decent woman is going to demand you grow up. Even after the dust settled, the guy is blaming the QB. Sounds like an idiot.
With lots of bacon
Of course he’s an idiot. It’s almost always the offensive line that won’t give the QB time
I remember that crowd shot. If I remember right if U[Other]T won the SEC Championship they would have went to the BCS Championship game.
“I cant imagine divorcing over a sports game.”
When a spouse has issues with low impulse control and zero coping skills, generally sports losses aren’t the only triggers. I have a feeling it happened often before this game, and this was her last straw. And if it did happen often, they probably didn’t have a very strong marriage — you’re right about that.
(I worked with abused spouses 20-25 years ago — both genders — so have a small inkling about the big picture.)
Was a spectator sports fan for most of my life. Lots of ups and downs. I enjoyed it for the most part but after decades of it about 15 years ago it started to wane for me. I had reached my saturation point. Now all I do is check the scores and think that’s nice or interesting or that’s too bad and move on. I will never become invested like I used to in the whole spectator sports world. It’s all pretty much a side show to life.
I doubt if they had a solid marriage up until this happened. This one incident alone did not cause his wife to leave him. It was just the final straw.
If it were them it could have been the wife throwing the beer bottle through the window.
Theres a C&W song in here somewhere
I broke up with my boyfriend at a football game.
It was the fourth quarter and although he was also an Auburn freshman, he kept saying how, being down by 16 - 0 and 10 minutes left in the game, we would not win and deserved to lose, yada, yada, yada.
With less than 10 minutes left, an Auburn drive stalled and managed only a field goal, which made it 163. On the next possession, Alabama was forced to punt. Bill Newton blocked Greg Gantt’s punt and David Langner ran the ball back 25 yards for an Auburn touchdown, narrowing the score to 1610. Several minutes later, Alabama was forced to punt again. Like last time, Newton blocked the punt and Langner returned it for a touchdown. Gardner Jett kicked the extra point to give Auburn a 1716 lead.
My boyfriend continued with his screed. He said it was all a fluke and ... Thus, a break-up. It was necessary. I had to do it.
Although I say Roll Tide, he had to go. Nobody needs that much negativity in their lives. You learned a lesson early and probably dodged a beer bottle going through the window.
