Every FBS team is eligible to play in a bowl game in 2020.
The NCAAs Division I Council announced on Wednesday that it has waived bowl eligibility requirements for the 2020-21 bowl season only. It also waived the minimum number of contests required for FBS teams.
Under ordinary circumstances, teams must have a .500 record to qualify for a bowl game (sometimes a 5-7 team will get a bowl bid if there arent enough .500 teams), but the Football Oversight Committee recommended getting rid of that rule for the current season, as the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to linger and cause the postponement and cancellation of games.

The Heart of Dallas Bowl was one the local Chamber of Commerce cobbled together to play in the old Cotton Bowl stadium after Jerry Jones lured the Cotton Bowl game away. I don’t think it’s being played anymore.
I am in Pittsburgh where Mean Joe is our favorite Mean Green of all time.
Trivia fact: The movie Necessary Roughness was filmed almost entirely at the University of North Texas. Their uniforms are a close approximation of what the Mean Green were wearing at that time.
Bowl games have been a participation trophy for a long time. All you’ve got to do is look at the “exception” to the rule, that being not enough .500 teams. There’s so many bowl games that’s not even really an exception, happens almost every year.
The Hawaii and Bahamas Bowls have been cancelled due to COVID-19 quarantine restrictions. It’s a little over two months before the first bowls start if the schedule is similar to last season’s.
Season is going to eventually be shut down.
That’s why I never really got into it this year.
Bahamas is still shut down, we were hoping to go there for Christmas, but we’re going to the Dominican Republic, instead.
It’s the College Football version of The NIT. Nobody cares.
For most bowl games, they’re playing in front of friends and family anyway.
But schools still have to pay premium prices for half the seating capacity of tickets.
I always feel kind of bad for the NIT winner. That seems to be a lot of work to go through to be labeled the 69th best team.
