Why are Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and Jeremiah Wright held up as unelected (self-appointed) leaders of the black community and “reverends”?

Dinesh D’Souza provides the actual history, not one that is revisionist.
The idea is a stereotype, a generalization and ignores all sorts of folks that do not fit that pattern.
Thanks for the link. Good stuff there.
I read a meme on FakeBook the other day. It talked about an Amish woman who had 5 young children and lost her husband. The meme said dont worry, the men and woman of the town will help her out and she will be fine. Another friend said that is Socialism at its best.
I do not much talk about politics on FakeBook, but I wanted to respond Socialism is the Government forcing people to contribute. Christianity ASKS people to help others. It doesnt make it mandatory by Law.
They fail to think for themselves...
Just like during the Slave Era. Was forbidden to teach the slave to read, because then he could think
Abolish the Department of Indoctrination !!!

I think religion is almost a cultural thing with blacks, more so than any adherence to Biblical truths. Just my impression from years of interaction with black families in my job. I am not saying they dont hold deep spiritual and Biblical beliefs, they do. But younger blacks do not seem to have the same Christian values of their grandparents.
Black or white is irrelevant. Look at the church services. Democrat church services are all stories and emotions. Republican church services focus on scripture.
No such thing as a Christian voting Democrat. One cannot vote for abortion and homosexuality and be Christian. “He that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”
