An overview of the antennas used for surveillance.

My favorite surveillance story is from WWII. A farmer in Virginia, outside of DC, invited a friend to dinner. The friend was in the Army Signal Corps.
The farmer turned on his SW radio, and said “Let’s see if we can pickup the Berlin taxi cab dispatchers today...”
Hope the farmer got full market value for his land, as the gub’mint took it over for surveillance and to install “real” antennas.
My antenna farm has room for more (don’t tell the wife).
Watch the video. Sheesh.
meh
Quit watching when the guy started to laugh at his own jokes.
All that was missing was a “Clap now” sign.
Good joke.
I liked the real life story of the Australian radio astronomy array that listened in on Apollo faking the astronauts’ conversation to impress visiting Americans.
Thank you.
It was in the film, “The Dish”, iirc.
Back in the 70’s/80’s when I played with the Ham crowd, my neighbors always knew when I rotated the 40 meter beam with a 44ft wingspan. All the dogs went nuts and the neighbors claimed the antenna stayed still and the house rotated lol.
Thank you. I didn’t remember the movie name, just the scene.
