The bike looks as if it was just ‘abandoned’ - old and rusty!
Sometimes you just have to say, What the hell - I’m doing it, I’ll worry about getting in trouble later.
It is a chance that they were willing to take. What do you figure the chances are that the idiots that stole the bike are going to stick around to figure out what happened and then press charges?

It would be more likely they hear about it on YouTube or some busybody chase down the pranksters.
When I was a kid, and someone stole something in our house, my mother would get smoking hot and exclaim as she grilled us “There’s nothing I hate more than a thief!”
I personally could cotton to a bicycle seat based ejection seat that was also an impaler.
Perhaps eject them first to let them ponder their actions as they fly through the air, and then the post of the seat with sharpened end would come up through the seat at some point in the short journey through the air to deliver the coup de gras.
