i was 9 years old when i saw the invasion of the body snatchers remake when it originally came out in 1978 in the theaters. There really isnt gore in that one, BUT the movie sailed over my head. I couldnt follow it or understand it at the time.

How about the Hammer horror films of the 1950s-1970s? No gore. No profanity. Very little blood.

Hammer was a british movie studio that got its start in 1934. It was struggling along. But in the 1950s they produced their first horror film and it was a smash hit. They followed up with many, many more horror films. The type i grew up watching on tv as a kid in the 1970s.

Ill give you some titles:

The curse of the werewolf (1961)
Horror of dracula (1958)
The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958)
The Evil of Frankenstein (1964)
Frankenstein Created Woman (1967)
Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (1969)
The Horror of Frankenstein (1970)
Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974)
Quatermass and the Pit (US title: Five Million Years to Earth) (1967)

Non-Hammer suggestions:

The Body Snatcher (1945)
The Blob (1958)
Blacula (1972)
Poltergeist (1982)
The Fog (1980)
The Others (2001)
Sasquatch, the legend of bigfoot (1976)
The Legend of Boggy Creek (1972)

Legend of boggy creek used to be widely available for free on the internet because it was thought to be in the public domain. But it wasnt. Not too long ago, the family who owned the copyright got the bootlegged copies removed from the internet (such as youtube) and put out an improved, restored version on blu ray:

Oh, you must see Spider Baby. Filmed in 1964, but not released until 1967.

Thats in the public domain. Full movie:

I saw the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers in theater when I was 8 years old. I enjoyed it and it didn’t disturb me in any way. Its one of my favorite films. But I’m reluctant to let my kids see it. Near the end of the film there is some brief nudity when a female character is walking around naked after she has become a pod person. It’s nothing explicit or sexual but I would just feel weird watching that with my kids.

Yep. I like the Fog from 1980. Haven’t watched the Blob in a while but might be good one.
