The Democrats will say it’s racist - the Vikings stole Newfoundland from the Egyptians.

When I was growing up, my parents would repeat the story of Lief Erikson to me and my sister every Columbus Day. It was to put into perspective what was taught about Columbus in school, and of course celebrate our Scandinavian heritage. It didn’t denigrate Columbus. I did the same with my daughters. While there is nothing wrong with a proclamation, or a holiday (read that as a day off work or school), wouldn’t it be nice that real history was taught in our schools?
