Yep, the operation paperclip pretty much compromised the CIA right at the start.
**********
I’ve always been of the belief that the CIA was born as an operational arm of the Deep State (but didn’t know what to call the Deep State way back in the ‘80s when starting to pay attention).
I never, once, believed that the leadership of the CIA, or those who pushed to create it, ever had the best interests of the US or citizens of the US in mind at any time.
Yet, before the CIA, before the OSS, before MI-5, there were spy networks. It’s just that it’s government sponsored now.
It always brings to mind the apt title: The Devil’s Chess Board and Allen Dulles.
Which leads to the question how the heck was it ok that Allen Dulles, who had just been fired by JFK was then permitted to be on the investigating commission, instead of being treated as a suspect with motive, means, and likely opportunity?
