A federal appeals court reinstated the fraud conviction of Hunter Bidens former business partner on Wednesday, reversing a lower court judge who had granted his request for a retrial.
Hunter Biden was not implicated in the scheme, which defrauded the Oglala Sioux Indian tribe out of the proceeds of bond sales. But the scheme was committed under the auspices of a broader business venture in which Hunter Biden was involved, and the perpetrators invoked his name to bolster their legitimacy, according to testimony and a consultants slide presentation presented at trial. A lawyer for Hunter Biden has said his name was invoked without his knowledge and that he cut ties with the perpetrators when he learned of their misconduct.

Devon Archer, whose conviction was reinstated by Wednesdays ruling, had partnered with Hunter Biden in Rosemont Seneca, a Washington-based investment firm. Starting in 2014, the pair served together on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas company accused of corruption, at the same time that his father oversaw U.S. policy towards Ukraine. Hunter Biden has called his decision to take the board seat a mistake, while Joe Biden has defended the decision, saying, my son did nothing wrong.
A lawyer for Archer, Matthew Schwartz, decried the ruling by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. As the experienced federal judge who presided over Mr. Archers month-long trial determined, he lacked the requisite intent and is thus innocent of the crimes charged, Schwartz said. Todays ruling, which second-guesses that judges decision without having sat through the evidence and listened to the witnesses, is beyond disappointing.
Archer was convicted in June 2018 of securities fraud and conspiracy to commit securities fraud, but five months later, trial Judge Ronnie Abrams of the Southern District of New York overturned the conviction.
In its ruling, the Second Circuit wrote that the District Court abused its discretion in overturning the jurys verdict.
Open to correction, but the Oglala Sioux, a well known tribe, aren't particularly prosperous in the casino industry. His partner could have found a better target. Then again, could have been left to tribal justice. If someone like this is found guilty in a tribal court, where do they do their time?
Stealing from the Indians? What a scumbag.
Conservatives on Thursday made it clear they felt Humpher Biden was at least in part to blame for a scheme which defrauded the Oglala Sioux Indian tribe out of the proceeds of bond sales, citing the the vice-president’s son’s addiction to hookers and blow that has often found a need to support itself by outrageous grifts all over the world, using Daddy’s pull among other Swamp corruptocrats.

On the bottom of a lake.
I’m doing free-form blaming, modelled on the Democrats’ latest stunt with the Michigan anarchist arrests.
Not condoning it, but I understand the unhealthy need for drugs. But honestly, he’s a nice looking guy, son of at various times a Senator and Vice President. I have the same lack of understanding for many celebrities and rich. Hookers? Strippers? Not to cast dispersion on either based on profession, but if you’re the pretty well off son of a prominent Senator, you can’t find companionship? What’s that song, Looking for Love in all the Wrong Places.
How about the Biden? He skates?
Sounds like something similar to what Abramoff, Norquist, and Reed were involved in.
The Bidens are pond scum—all of them.
Trouble is, my part-Indian friend told me, Indians always vote Democrat because they are told they’ll lose their benefits if they don’t. What do they do with their benefits? When they reach 18, they are given $35,000 by the US government. The guys buy trucks and beer with their benefits, live in squalor. It’s a disgrace.
Our Republican Women’s Club advocated for giving them $35,000 in college tuition payments so they could learn trades and other useful things. Big BOO HISS from the tribes.
” where do they do their time? “

Isn’t that what Democrats do? Joe Biden and Arlene Spector would probably say that ‘Stare decisis’ mandates that no crime was committed.
Thats one sweet deal they got going with Uncle Sam.
Any wonder they were conquered?
They collected millions as board members of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, around the time of the Oglala bond issues.
I can live large on 20 grand a year - but I'm not a Perfumed Prince of The Swamp.
These people are GREEDY little ducks.
Archer was getting coddled by the Obamajudge Ronnie Abrams (maybe she was making goo-goo eyes at Dashing Devon on the side?).
Here's the straight dope:
PLUS, they make billions running all of the casinos in the USA. We now have two in Spokane and another right across the state line in Idaho. Tribal leaders make all of the $$, poor braves make nothing.
Looks like the Sioux/sue are going to teach Archer what real archery looks and feels like. Hope it hurts up the wazhoo.
Have never understood why they didnt take hard control of their borders. Entry/leaving/pass thru taxes, you know, just like a bone fide government would do. Monopolizations on natural resources on their land as well as creating non-us controled independently taxed and charged to the highest bidder, drum roll please, Tonto, World Class Health Care that Big-Opharma would be afraid to take on.
My Choctaw brothers screwed the pooch.

Hunter Biden-linked real estate firm got at least $100M from Russian oligarch: sources

A real estate company with ties to first son Hunter Biden received more than $100 million from a Russian billionaire for property investments across the US that date back a decade, sources have told The Post.
The hefty cash injections into Rosemont Realty came from Elena Baturina — one of Russia’s wealthiest women, the widow of the former mayor of Moscow, and a close ally of Moscow tyrant Vladimir Putin, the sources said.
In one portfolio deal, Baturina paid at least $40 million to Rosemont to invest in office buildings across the country, according to a source with knowledge of the transactions.

This isn’t the first time President Biden’s 52-year-old son has been linked to Baturina, whose late husband Yuri Luzhkov was mayor of Russia’s capital for more than 18 years before being dismissed by then-President Dmitry Medvedev in 2010.
