Don’t even know why this is news. Every series I start watching on Amazon or any of the other channels features, in the very first episode, an explicit sex scene and/or extremely foul language. Lost count of how any first episodes I’ve turned off after just a few minutes.
No one makes anything decent anymore.

There aren’t any sex scenes in any of Tolkien’s material - not even insinuated ones - so this is definitely going to far into the “creative liberty” realm. I am shocked that the Tolkien estate agreed to this as they own the licensing rights to the material and have historically been good stewards of it.
