California is getting dangerous. I know a woman who lives in one of the best neighborhoods near LA, and she was attacked and raped in her own home, for hours and hours. Held hostage for about eight hours by some maniac.
She is still affected by the horror of it.
In a way, it wouldn’t shock me to see California go red. At some point you have to defend yourself.

Republicans passed the 19th amendment
Republicans pushed through Civil Rights

And there’s zero chance that changes in 2020 (anecdotal “evidence” aside) but pipe dream fantasies are pleasant, and it is nice to start the morning with a good laugh.
Why not New York and Illinois too? Sure somebody somewhere has seen one or two Trump signs in those states and/or talked to a handful of people? Let’s beat Reagan’s record from 1984 and take all 50 (or is it 57?) states!!!
Yup. Long overdue for our side to stop calling ourselves Communists. We look really stupid doing it. I have refused to use those Orwellian newspeak colors since day #1. It’s offensive and just plain wrong.
Trump generally is going to outperform 16 across the board, but if pulls CA red, that just is t likely. Though he may pull some of the congressional districts red.
Fun fact: No Republican has defeated an incumbent Democrat officeholder in a federal race in California since 1994. That’s out of hundreds of races. The logical odds of that happening are astronomical. Going into the 1996 elections, the GOP and Dems were tied at 26 seats each. Now the GOP has just 7 seats (14 going into the 2018 election), having systematically had their seats stolen via fraud and other chicanery. I wouldn’t trust any election result in those 24 years. That the GOP almost always comes up short sets off red flags.
As an aside, before the GOP got remotely “fair” lines in 1992 (for the last time), they’d been systematically gerrymandered into a minority beginning with the 1962 redistricting, so for 3 decades, despite being often the voting majority, they always had a minority of seats. The last time they won a majority was in 1956. Even in 1980, when Reagan won the state and the voters voted for the GOP candidates by a majority, the Dems made it so that they took the majority of seats as the “losers.”
If they can overcome the Democrat vote buying schemes.
If one of these Commie Red states seceded, they’d be a willing beachhead for Red China to control and use to undermine the rest of True-Blue Conservative America.

Trump is up by 32 points in New York and 29 points in California so I think your dreams will be dashed.
Most of those people have chosen fear and think Antifa are white supremacists and the fires are from climate change.
There is in my mind a thin hope that many voters in Cali or NY who never bothered to vote, having a sense of the population centers bulldozing them, are now motivated to vote come hell or high water nonetheless less. Add in others who are beginning to “wake up” to the insane Democrats...
Exactly. Every time someone calls for them to secede, I remind people of that fact. They would go from being a propaganda and cultural beachhead, to being a physical beachhead and military stronghold. Chicomms would come pouring in with money, military equipment, manpower. Welcomed with open arms by the communists running CA.
A dangerous position, and would force some very clearcut and difficult choices. ( Go to physical war with, even bomb a former part of our own country? With many relatives of US citizens living there?) And once again we would be bitterly divided, with patriots knowing we would have to, and leftists in certain parts of the country clamoring for peace.
People need to understand that having California break off doesn’t mean all our problems are solved and we can live in peace. Would probably just mean the conflict takes the form of a conventional war instead of a civil war., while still facing bitter divisions in the rest of the country
It’s very difficult to vote out corrupt govt once it becomes baked in.
Last fall, on one of my (formerly) frequent visitors to SF, I met a retired couple who had just moved there from Chicago because "We want to live in the most liberal city in the country."
