A bridge inspector is being praised for rescuing a dog stuck high above the Mississippi River over the weekend.

Nataluk, an avid mountain climber and a vice president and lead engineer for the Stantec company, has been inspecting and climbing bridges for over 23 years.

“I go camping and climbing all over with my family and dog. I’ve had to bring my own dog across rivers and even haul him up peaks and overtime I’ve figured out how to make makeshift harnesses,” he said.

When Nataluk climbed down to her, the canine quickly warmed up to him and he was able to tie a piece of cord around her like a harness.

Moments later, Officer John Fenly arrived to assist in the rescue.

Smart dogs - need a lot of running room though.

“if My Dogs don’t like somebody then that person is not to be Trusted.”
One of our beloved A.S. raised with our young children, HATED my mother! And did not want her inside our house, or in the yard!!!

A bit anthropomorphic... the dog thought the kids were hers?
That dog knew the sound? or the time of the school bus, to be outside when they arrived, first waiting in the back to see the distant bus, then the front as they arrived.

We have about half an acre, our son over an acre and they put every inch of his yard to very good use.

Nothing to do with the dog on the bridge, but, a “good doggie” story ...

We had a Blue Heeler who thought we couldn’t farm without her ... especially couldn’t work cattle without her. Hubs said she was better help than most people.

Anyway, she was also a very quiet, polite and well-mannered house dog. NEVER barked.

Until she heard Obama give a speech on TV. She sounded off then even after we shushed her, kept growling.
