But then the power is converted back into heat. So then our energy balance works, but what motivates the heat to go through all this bullshit without a net thermal gradient between points A & B? Or potentially, even a counter-gradient, if B is hotter than A? It’s like a ball rolling around perpetually on level ground.

Good question. You are correct of course. All I can say is that it must be some sort of Graphene Magic.

Despite my explanation I too am skeptical. But it’s worth watching.

Yeah, except that I didn’t watch the experiment in person, so I’m obliged to apply logic in evaluating the likelihood of the results. Don’t forget the “fusion on a table” guys.
