One doesn't have to wade far into the social media cesspool to see posts labeling the President "fascist." It's ubiquitous too for anyone critical of BLM-Antifa to be labeled similarly.
Do the online posters and name-callers know of which they speak (or type or text or tweet)? Or do they simply mean something or someone they don't like? If the latter, it is not uncommon. A recent piece at Jacobin, "a leading voice of the American left," included this:
There are countless examples of journalists and contemporary historians taking a strong and understandable dislike to political figures in the present day, reinterpreting the concept of fascism so that it refers to whatever processes they reject in the present, and then hunting for echoes of them in the past.
Appearances of the word fascism in books peaked around 1941, then plummeted, and has been rising steadily since 1960. Loose, casual usage of the lowercase words fascist and fascism isn't new. In 1946, George Orwell wrote in an essay that "The word fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies 'something not desirable'.

When leftists call someone a fascist they do not realize that they are really saying “you are like me.” It is a bigger insult than they realize.
It’s the Left’s knee-jerk insult of anyone who is anti-communist.
“The word fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies ‘something not desirable’.
More precisely, I think it means “insufficiently Marxist”, or “out of favor with Marxist leadership”.
Just like the word Rasict or Nazi, they have been thrown out so much that they have no meaning.
Deflection and projection...the Left is the epitome of fascism and has long been practicing it.
Does anyone truly believe anything the left says, besides their own useful idiots?
They simply cast labels then create the narrative to prove the label is true.
How much more obvious does it need to be?
During WWII, the Soviet Union always used “Fascist” to describe the Nazis, they never used “Nazi”, because Nazi was short for “National Socialist”, can’t admit they were fellow socialists.
For the same reason the right cries “Commie”?
Indeed. They’ve now exposed their hand publicly and no MSM journalist (oxymoron) will call them out.
Antifa and BLM are solidly fascist and racist. Yet hardly a blip on the radar from the left and their incompetent mayors and governors.
Psychological projection is the sport of choice for lefties.
There it is.
Plain and simple.
Always.
I guess if they can pronounce them, that means they THINK they know what they are talking about.
Too bad, because if a single one of them could properly (even basically) define Fascism, they would not be throwing it around like that. I'm dreaming of course.
My pet peeve is how many people use the word literally when they mean figuratively. Its over the top for years now.
Worse they are self proclaimed enemies of the Constitution and the the United States. Yet they will not be arrested, fine or shutdown because of a misuse of the term “freedom of speech”. The Constitution protects dissent not insurrection. If these groups are not confronted, a foreign power will fund their activities. You don’t have to invade when your soldiers are already there. And you don’t have to recruit when simply arming an internal revolution will do.
They get their language and habits from ‘People’ magazine and THE last film they saw, THE last celebrity they heard, THE last program they watched on TV, THE last song they heard... etc.
These are people are pathologically ‘plastic’ and have NO individuality. So-it goes without saying that their ‘education’ was mediocre and their emotional quotient is stunted.
I keep away from people who don’t speak properly because it’s my belief that they don’t think properly EITHER!
Gotta love the Young Ones.
Most of those crying “Fascist!” would not recognize a fasces (”bundles of the lictors”)if they were hit over the head with them.
In the Lincoln Memorial, the statue of Lincoln sitting has his hands firmly on the fasces arm peaces, and the old Mercury dime (10 cents) had a fasces on the reverse side.
