(CNN) New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo argued that nursing homes "never needed" to accept Covid-positive patients from hospitals in the state.
During a press call Wednesday, Finger Lakes News Radio asked Cuomo about his administration's advisory in late March requiring that nursing homes accept the readmission of patients from hospitals, even if they were positive for Covid-19.
Cuomo argued that the advisory was a precaution if hospitals became overwhelmed -- calling it an "anticipatory rule" -- which he said didn't happen.
"We never needed nursing home beds because we always had hospital beds," Cuomo told Finger Lakes News. "So it just never happened in New York where we needed to say to a nursing home, 'We need you to take this person even though they're Covid-positive.' It never happened."
Facts First: Cuomo's assertion that "it never happened" is false. According to a report from the New York State Department of Health, "6,326 COVID-positive residents were admitted to [nursing home] facilities" following Cuomo's mandate that nursing homes accept the readmission of Covid-positive patients from hospitals. Whether or not this was "needed," it did in fact happen.

And on top of that, he barely used the hospital ship USNS Comfort for COVID patients that was anchored in the harbor. They could have put the elderly there, at least the ones near NYC!
I see he’s practicing to be the next democrat party nominee for president.

I don’t know that the Cuomos did that, but Wolf’s Levine in PA did.
Seniors get Medicare, not medicaid.

Well they fact checked Biden on his claim about the Obama economic recovery. Is Comcast (or is it Time Warner)trying to make CNN appealing so they can get a buyer?
It’s not just the elderly who contracted Covid19 that he’s responsible for killing.
How many others died during these extreme lock-downs due to depression, feeling abandoned and lonely, care-giver neglect that a visiting loved one would see and stop, or being too afraid to go to see their doctor for a “minor” complaint or yearly tests or screenings.
Possibly even some cases of decline due to not eating properly or at all (a very common problem with those who have dementia), or not being able to get healthy foods (the lesser-quality nursing homes most likely are/were not providing truly balanced and nutritious meals).
Disheartening and angering at the same time
Their medical care is handled by Medicare. Nursing home expenses are handled through the State. So it would be whatever the NU version of Medicaid is.
They are two different systems doing two different things—at least in this context (Seniors in Nursing Homes.)
Sign of the apocalypse?
The truth is so overwhelming, CNN reports it.

Without a doubt. In a sane world, this murdering POS would already be locked up in a cell facing a death penalty sentence.
What perks?

The one that impacts my mother most is EPIC for prescription drugs. It’s more generous than other Rx plans I know about. She literally couldn’t live without it. (Of course, if she didn’t have it, she has us.)
Another she uses is HEAP to subsidize her house heating costs. In the same vein is WRAP that helps with weatherization of the home if needed (her home is almost 200 years old).
There are MANY benefits for elderly in NY, but she takes advantage of very few of them.
Heap helps low income too.

I expect that some of the benefits are cross-overs, and not only for seniors.
