Helen Reddy, the Australian singer behind feminist anthem I Am Woman, has died aged 78.
Reddy died on Tuesday in Los Angeles, her family said in a statement on Facebook.
Her children, Traci Donat and Jordan Sommers, described her as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and a truly formidable woman.
Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.
Reddy had a string of pop and rock hits in the 1970s, but is best known for the 1972 anthem I Am Woman a rousing tune which became prominent in the womens liberation movement.

Definitely not a low-talker.
RIP
I also liked “Pretty, pretty” and “Keep on Singing.” A lot of her songs were tear-jerkers.
We all die bfd
Not really a big fan of hers, but her voice was definitely part of background music of my younger days. May she rest in peace.
Will that be your epitaph?

I am Womaaaaaaaan!
May Ms. Reddy Rest in Peace with THE ETERNAL SAVIOR.
Yours, TMN78247
I wouldn’t have coffee with her because I hate feminists/leftists but I could sit and listen to her sing all day long. RIP Helen
Paul Williams did write wonderful songs! My favorite is Rainy Days and Mondays, as performed by The Carpenters. Brilliant!
And he was great as Little Enos.
I loved Smokey and the Bandit........1 and 2 and Paul and Pat McCormick were a big part of my enjoyment. Paul Williams has written some of my most favorite songs. Lotta talent there.
“It’s so nice to be insane. No one asks you to explain...”
I watched a video on her some time ago. She had sold all her memorabilia and was living alone.
#17. Helen Reddy was born on 10/25/41 in Melbourne, Australia. “Acted in the movies “Airport 1975”, Pete’s Dragon” and “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”.
Had 3 Number One songs: I am Woman, Delta Dawn and Angie Baby
“You and Me Against the World” hit #9 (all Billboard ratings)
“Leave Me Alone (Ruby Red Dress)” was No. 3
Saw her on an old “Salute to Carol Burnett” show about two weeks ago. Reddy was beautiful, sang beautifully, and was surprisingly very shorty.
A class act singer which is sadly missing in so many of them today.
I Was Woman
She WAS woman.
She is not roaring anymore.
