By the way, Joan, and her sister Gloria, were both registered Republicans, and endorsed DDE.

She does an outstanding performance in this video, inspired by the 1932 Bonus Army demonstrations in Washington, DC, from the movie "Gold Diggers of 1933."

She was a real working actress and was still terrific even after the Hays Code prevented her from showing her charms to best effect. After the War she did a slew of TV. Brassie describes most of the characters she played.

IMO the best looking pre-code actress was Toby Wing.

The finest pre-code actress was Betty Davis...boy could she act!

Nearly all pre-code actresses were forced to compete with Jean Harlow and had bleached platinum hair.

I don’t know a lot about Joan Blondell’s early movies.
When I hear that name, I first think of an episode on Twilight Zone Joan did with William Demarest in 1964.
The episode was called “What’s in the box?”
It was about an old TV this middle aged guy bought to watch Boxing.

The TV would show scenes from future events in his life.
One day, the TV even showed the man (William Demarest) killing his wife (Joan Blondell). The man was so disturbed that he returned the TV to the store.

Days later, he had second thoughts, and re-purchased that TV. It was marked as a Discounted Item, so he would save money buying this one.
The rest of the episode went pretty much as you would expect.
