Good for Trump and the Nation, but unions should have no place in government.

As a federal employee, I’m going to argue this point a little.

The federal government is made up of a lot of idiots, and many of those idiots end up in management. People get poorly rated because their bosses choose their friends over the best employees. Bosses gossip and end up unjustly destroying reputations. Bosses will sometimes pick favorites based off political affiliation versus skill. HR is mostly staffed by low IQ know-nothings who can’t help anyone with anything. The union gives federal workers the opportunity to defend themselves against idiot management when they inevitably f*ck up the career of a decent employee who is working for The People. That is the value I have seen to date in having federal employees unionized - insurance against idiot bosses, which the government is full of.

There should be no discussion. There is no legitimate, moral or ethical reason at all for ANY Public Sector Employee to be permitted or allowed to be the member of a Labor Union. The simple FACT of the matter is that virtually all Government Employees (not “workers”) have numerous “protections” in place through Civil Service Laws and policies. The ONLY function of Government Employees unions like SEIU or NEA is to be a fund raising apparatus for the DemocRAT Party.

I defy anybody to prove me wrong.

That had a huge backlash in Ohio. I think the best option is any govt union needs to be completely apolitical, not connected to the afl-cio, and barred from political contributions. That way the union does not is just a workers advocate group to help negotiate salaries, ensure nobody gets fired just bc boss hates them, and work conditions. I have no prob if workers want to have a group that just wants to work with management. This has never been tried and I think it would be a great medium, and ensured taxpayer dollars don’t get turned into union dues that get donated to liberals.

Like a lot of other stuff in the country, it should be free choice.

But as a taxpayer, it is my choice too. So, I say no. In fact, I say fire the vast majority of lazy ass federal employees. Note, I did not say workers.

The country is in real trouble if the merit system is replaced by at will workers fireable by elected officials. There are already too many appointees, who tend to make much more money and are much more political. The unions protect the merit system and the merit system protects the public. It’s not perfect but nothing is.

They don’t have to agree.

Trump just has to rescind Kennedy’s EO.

Been saying this for decades. There’s no one on the other side of the table to negotiate with Unions who has personal skin in the game with governments.

No one in government should be aloud to unionize, all who work for the government work for the people, and do so at are pleasure.
....................................................
Most voters aren’t aware of the fact that on Capitol Hill unionization of employees was verboten for well over a hundred years. I couldn’t say whether that’s still the case or not.

As a union representative in the private sector for 15 years and as a Federal employee for 25 years, I concur with all the points you’ve made. I believe all government employees should have the right to unionize for grievance procedures, etc. HOWEVER, I am totally opposed to government employee unions being permitted the right to bargain for wages/salaries, retirement benefits, and fringe benefits, i.e. the compensation package in its entirety.
