i am not going to presume whether or not the driver had driven into the parking lot moments earlier or had parked there hours earlier and was merely attempting to exit the parking lot. from a legal perspective, i doubt that it matters.
an interesting question is who has the right of way in a public parking lot, pedestrians or automobiles. offhand, i would guess pedestrians, with the possible exception of the driver having been threatened by the pedestrians to the point that his or her life or the lives of one or more of his or her vehicle’s passengers is threatened by some act or acts that the pedestrians are doing or in imminent danger of doing.
apparently the driver had exited the vehicle at one point, perhaps to argue with a pedestrian, and was in the process of re-entering the vehicle possibly with a single black clad masked female sympathizer or friend nearby, when the bystander began shooting the video.
i did not see anyone seeming to stand in front of the vehicle. rather, one person seemed to be temporarily stationary while taking a couple of photos of the vehicle from the front of the vehicle, while other people seemed to be walking across the parking lot access lane perpendicular to the forward exit path of the vehicle.
what is not clear from the video is whether protestors had deliberately blocked the vehicle for any substantial length of time, or had threatened the driver, prior to the video’s start. it seems as if there had been a prior altercation which had not been filmed but had generated enough interest that the bystander decided to take a video. perhaps the driver had been talking, shouting, and/or acting in a belligerent manner before the start of the video (possibly likewise for some of the pedestrians).
disclaimer, IANAL

YORBA LINDA, Calif. (KABC) — Violence erupted Saturday in Yorba Linda, where at least two people were seriously injured after a car drove through a demonstration involving members of Black Lives Matter and counter-protesters.
During the demonstration, a woman behind the wheel a compact car drove through an intersection, striking a man and woman. The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
“The man suffered two broken legs and the woman had major injuries,’’ said Orange County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Dennis Breckner.

The suspect, apparently associated with the so-called “Caravan of Justice,’’ was subsequently arrested for suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to Breckner.
The BLM protest against police violence and systemic racism began around 2 p.m. on Imperial Highway and was interrupted by some of President Donald Trump’s supporters, who waved American flags, held pro-Trump signs chanted “U-S-A.” The two sides verbally confronted each other but violence did not ensue as sheriff’s deputies were on site, according to media reports from the scene.
Yes, I suffer from the same lack of concrete information, but as you can see from the post above, I have been to many conservative protests, and we don’t operate that way, so if they were blocking her car and trying to get a picture of her plate, there may indeed have been a reason.
We don’t “dox” people in my experience. I do have first hand experience of the Left (Code Pink types) doing just that.
But anything I can say is only opinion at this point. I don’t agree with blocking traffic, as many of my posts specify, so I am assuming they had a reason to block her car and attempt to take a picture of her plate.
