Watch: Woman hugs tree for over 10 hours to break Guinness record

A Tennessee woman broke a Guinness World Record by hugging a tree in a Chattanooga park for 10 hours and 5 minutes.

Adrienne Long spent 10 hours and 5 minutes with her arms wrapped around a walnut tree at Heritage Park in Chattanooga's Brainerd neighborhood to break the previous tree-hugging record, which stood at 8 hours, 15 minutes.

Long's friend Sarah Medley, owner of Studio 59 Aveda Salon and Spa, organized activities for Long and spectators including dance, yoga and guided meditation during the attempt.

The attempt was live-streamed on the World Record Tree Hug page on Facebook.

Long's feat raised money for the local Audubon Society.

Why did she hug a walnut tree?

Why not an oak or poplar?

Filthy, stinking treeist.

I could duct tape my arms around one and sleep for that long. The tree would consider the affection to be indistinguishable.

Not only does she have too much time on her hands, she has a skull full of mush.

Hug a logger. You’ll never go back to trees!

Just 10 hours? Meh. I’m not impressed. When I was in college I once hugged a tree for 12 hours straight. Here’s the tree:

I am NOT watching that for 10 hours and 5 minutes. Butt, better than any of the major sports anymore.

I was working a construction job in Rock Island, IL, about 8 yrs ago. A library expansion at Augustana College. There was a big oak that had to be removed. A student managed to live in it, thanks to a student support crew on the ground. The school year ended, and his support went home for the summer. He tried to sneak away for supplies, but apparently didn’t wait until all the construction crew had gone home. Enter the chainsaw.

A few years ago I rented a house that had magnificent century old trees out front. One day a woman showed up, explained she was a prior tenant, and asked to hug one of the trees. I said yes and went back inside. As I was watching from the window she did just that.

Libs are just f’in morons. They constantly look for ways to prove it
