I want to buy a home defense shotgun and I would appreciate FR input. Ive always been more of a rifle and pistol person. What say yall to a senior citizen buying a shotgun for the first time. Is Mossberg Shockmaster or Roadblocker a good choice.
Good luck finding a Mossberg.
I own four Mossbergs. Good, reliable, inexpensive weapons.
This is going to be a fun thread.
I’ll toss in my dos centavos. My son has a Benelli M4. He loves it.

Whatever you choose, make sure it has a shoulder thingy that goes up.

Just remember they make a big mess when target contact is met....lol
Winchester defender. 5 in the tube one in the chamber. If you are using a shotgun 6 rounds is plenty.
Ask ‘w1n1’. He’s an expert on all firearms.
Second, you want something you can comfortably handle slugs with, and a standard 12 gauge with slugs can kick the crap out of your shoulder. If thats you, get a twenty gauge (Mossberg 500 has some good options), or look hard for shotgun with a really good recoil system or an aftermarket stock that has a recoil system.
Even 12 gauge buck shot can beat you up if the gun has little recoil absorption, which most off the shelf pumps wont.
A semi like the mossberg 930 will have less recoil than a pump.
Just like a rifle or pistol, you want the biggest thing you can handle without being intimidated by shooting it.
Mossberg or Remington Youth Model 20 gauge pump.
I have two Mossbergs. Reliable, inexpensive, light. They are the Maverick 20g version. Took me a few days to find what I like. They are for shooting clays and whatever around the ranch. Bought them for my kids.
You can get lower-recoil home defense rounds that alleviate the kick.
I own 3 Mossberg SGs. Great value.
Benelli nova, supernova, etc. is the way to go! Fine Italian product.
Rock Island Armory imported the Derya MK-12 and renamed it the VR-80. It is a semi-automatic 12 guage that can eat 2 3/4 and 3” shells. Comes with 2 - 5 rd magazines, but also works offers 9 and 19 round magazines, or works with 25 round drums. I have 2 of them.
Mossberg 590 parkerized with ghost ring sights and a speed feed stock. Has a bayonet lug that secures an m7 nicely.
