ABC News chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl expressed his concern about how the general public views the press during the Trump era.
"I do believe that unfortunately, there is a big chunk of the country that believes that the press is now the resistance and I think it's really unfortunate and I think that it has negative consequences for a free press. I think it has negative consequences for our democracy," Karl told Mediaite on Thursday. "But I think that the aggressive questioning of the president, particularly now in the wake of what we've seen unfold with the pandemic is absolutely necessary. Not only justified but necessary.
He went on to walk back the harsh criticism of his CNN counterpart Jim Acosta, who he slammed in his memoir for undermining the "credibility" of the White House press corps with his "speeches" that painted the press as "the resistance."
"The events that have played out since those early days of the Trump White House have in some ways vindicated Jim Acosta," Karl said.

“I’m not part of the resistance,” Karl elaborated. “I’m not his political opponent. I don’t want people to see me in there and think I’m just out to get him. "

Dementia Joe has told more lies over his political career than pretty much anyone else. Has Karl and his fake news pals ever called him out on his lies? Nope. They lob softballs at him, and throw their panties at him instead.
The press that went from being cheerleaders for the Obama administration, to cheerleaders for impeachment? The press that ignores Trump’s accomplishments and only parrots the lies of the left? The press that ignores the corruption of Hillary, Biden, and the entire Democrat party, while constantly attacking the Republicans? Gee, how could people possibly be so confused Jon?

The fake news media is the chief instigator of the riots, anarchy, arson, chaos and looting that is sweeping the country.
Mr. Karl is correct, those that are not suffering TDS know beyond a shadow of doubt that the press generally is an arm of the Democratic party.
There are still a few sources of news, Wall Street Journal and some Canadian Press that are not totally biased against President Trump.
He is correct that this does bode poorly for a free press. Look at the rioters in say Portland where “press” are exempt for riot orders and free to do mischief as they see fit.
It will be a long time before the press can redeem itself.

He’s right. But the media is NOT also aggressively questioning Biden, Pelosi, Cuomo, etc. That’s where the media is failing the country. And that’s why we no longer respect them.
Anyone who refers to this constitutional republic as “our democracy” is most assuredly the enemy.
