I respect the medical profession for all they do and know but how can they do their job if the family does not help?
I have family members who would scream for morphine for a hang nail and others who would sit on a tack and smile while the blood ran because they "didn't want to be a bother".
One needs to be told to rub some dirt on it and the other needs immediate attention but unless you know them it can be hard to tell one from the other.
You know we are pretty good at what we do. But if I cant explain and convince a reasonable person why o am thinking what I am thinking it causes me to look further and thats ok. Sure there are unreasonable family members. Once I have completed a thorough work up and if there is nothing else to do and a family member will not accept the facts then there are other things we have to do.
But in my practice if a family member says I know my loved one and this isnt him it makes me double check my work and thats not a bad thing.
