LOL I understand your thoughts but sometimes people are desperate and sometimes in desperation people reach out JUST LIKE ME with a hope that a doctor JUST LIKE YOU will jump on.
I am thankful you do jump on!
Head nurse just went in and checked it and said it was fine, though if still a problem tomorrow, I will ask for them to see if maybe they can do an ultrasound and check it.
thank you for your input!
Like I said, no honest doctor would make a diagnosis across the miles without at least seeing the patient — we can generally push you in the right direction, BUT BE YOUR DADS ADVOCATE. IF THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG IN YOUR JUDGMENT SAY IT! IF YOU DONT GET ANYWHERE REQUEST A NEW ATTENDING PHYSICIAN. CALL THE HOSPITAL CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER UNTIL YOU GET AN ANSWER. I would remind you, it may not be the answer you want, but make them CONVINCE you that he has been worked up!!!!

Funny. LOL
B&O is a railroad in monopoly, correct? Baltimore and Oriental? Talk about a train through a tight tunnel!!!!
B&O in my world is belladonna and opioid. :-)
I had five different catheters within 6 days after my prostate pulled away from my bladder when I started androgen deprivation therapy. Wound up having a cystoscopy for clot evacuation.
Not exactly something on my bucket list. Generally speaking, while a catheter is not comfortable, it’s a lot better than not being able to evacuate your bladder.
Thank you...I appreciate you understanding why I posted. We sometimes see things in our loved ones that others miss.
Second only to them forgetting to deflate the Foley catheter before attempting removal.
(s) null 'prostate on a stick' and void...
THANK YOU!!! Really appreciate it!
Experience.
that’s what I expected...not wonderfully comfortable but better than not being able to go. But he seems to not be getting relief which I did not think was normal. He should have at least felt some pain/discomfort lessening once he had that catheter
I respect the medical profession for all they do and know but how can they do their job if the family does not help?
I have family members who would scream for morphine for a hang nail and others who would sit on a tack and smile while the blood ran because they "didn't want to be a bother".
One needs to be told to rub some dirt on it and the other needs immediate attention but unless you know them it can be hard to tell one from the other.
Did the check him for kidney stones?
You know we are pretty good at what we do. But if I cant explain and convince a reasonable person why o am thinking what I am thinking it causes me to look further and thats ok. Sure there are unreasonable family members. Once I have completed a thorough work up and if there is nothing else to do and a family member will not accept the facts then there are other things we have to do.
But in my practice if a family member says I know my loved one and this isnt him it makes me double check my work and thats not a bad thing.
The doctor gave you the proper diagnosis
ER is never the place for your best medical care. Your primary. Are physician is
Every indication is that her dad was in a hospital room not the ER
His prostate may have become attached to his bladder. If he was given medicine to shrink his prostate, it may have pulled away from the bladder and clots are being formed from the bleeding.
I’d contact the doctor, NOW! If that is what happened,he may need a cystoscopy for clot evacuation. You should also have him screened for prostate cancer.

Ask the nurses to explain it to you They are good translators
Im not bashing you. Im merely pointing out this board is not the best place to get medical advice. Talk to the nurses on the phone explain that youd dad is in pain. He may not be giving them an accurate picture of his discomfort
Men and women are built differently. They react differently to pain and illness
Bless your heart
