I venture to say, the sub needs to be at "zero bubble" to accurately launch torpedoes, right? So zero bubble means watch for fish being launched.....

Not necessarily. Torpedoes are mostly wireguided now, I think - probably by computers. I’ve been out of the Navy for a loooong time now, so I’m open to correction. The fire control officer used to be able to guide them with a joy stick, but that was a long time ago. We did not have to be at zero bubble to let them go.

Missiles yes to a zero bubble, but not from 50’.

Torpedoes can launch regardless the depth or skew of the sub, or the roll/pitch of a ship. They are small compared to ICBMs.
