I wrote earlier about trying to express my reasons to my dad in a calm and intellectual manner. I actually thought I had been calm and well-reasoned. I thought I might even be making progress.
Today I found out he put a Trump sign in his yard.
I got pissed. Really pissed. And I sent him and my mom a text message. Hands shaking, tears in eyes. This is what it said:
Due to the signs in the yard, the kids and I will not be down. The current occupant of the White House is preaching hate and violence, endangering the lives and safety of many of my friends. This is not acceptable to me at all. There is a complete disregard for women, minorities, science, ethics, and morality. Please consider if you support Trump that much. Because I hate him that much. I wanted to be upfront and honest about my feelings.

So my grandfather was a strong old line democrat. I was a young whippersnapper who voted for Reagan.
We had some great arguments.

Trump is NOT hateful at all....they need to be called on this...its the rat leftists who are out beating people up, setting fire to cars and police stations, and blowing the brains out of little 6 yro boys on their trikes...
If you use your love as a weapon (denying it if someone disagrees with you) then it’s not really love!
If my child chose to do this, I would allow her to make that mistake - As much as I love my children, we all have to make our own choices in life. I would miss her and the grandkids, but I would still do what I believe is right.

Tell the son you didn’t raise him to be a stupid abusive left wing pos and to respect his father and his country. Otherwise he’s a grown up and if he wants to use his children as a threat, he will just have to live with that disgusting decision and when you leave this earth it will be too late to reverse the damage he did to your grandchildren just because he’s so narrow minded and filled with hate.
