I think for someone with a long record, you would be correct. But she doesn’t have too much they can rip apart yet. Instead, all they would have to work off of is that she is a Latina and Trump named her. She wouldn’t be on Trump’s list if she wasn’t a textualist or originalist. His lists have been incredibly solid.
It may be my first post under this name but I’ve lurked for years. And, in the mid 00s, I used to have an account (unfortunately couldn’t remember the name) that I used to post from periodically. No reason to be nasty.
Britt Grant’s exclusion was a VERY unfortunate oversight.
Britt Grant, a judge on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Previously a justice on the Supreme Court of Georgia. Prior to her appointment in 2017, Justice Grant served as the Solicitor General of the State of Georgia and as a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Justice Grant served as law clerk to Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, is a summa cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University, and graduated with distinction from Stanford Law School.
He already said he would pick a woman. Plus it is, unfortunately, going to be a real struggle to get 50 votes in the Senate on any judge this close to election day. A pick as you suggest wouldn’t be as easily fast-tracked by the Senate. Need to both consider the future of the court as well as current political logistics.
Trump’s list is really just the Federalist Society’s list. Has been since 2015.
2. Scalia and Thomas graduated law school at a time when the education they received was questionable. Anyone who graduated after 1985 should be considered an anti-American Communist.
