The U.S. Open at Winged Foot is halfway done, which leaves us with 62 golfers making the cut in the years second major. Eighty-two players failed to advance to the weekend, including Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.
Mickelson may have played his final U.S. Open, as he has run out of automatic exemptions and is now 50 years old. After a rough, first-round 79, Mickelson followed it up with a 74 on Friday, but was never really in contention to make the weekend.
As for Woods, the cutline was at least in mind throughout the first half of his round on Friday. Woods began at three over in the afternoon, when the cutline was looking mostly solidified. And with just one bogey through five holes, he looked to be in decent shape, but Woods finished his first nine with two double bogeys in three holes. Then he turned to the front and added four bogeys before two birdies to finish. It was a 10-over week for Woods, and the cut line ended up being seven over.
Bryson DeChambeau is one shot back.

Lol. People only hate Patrick Reed because he’s good under stress. And he’s his own man.
“Thief and notorious cheat”
Kind of hard to do that in golf. Can you explain?
Reed is odious.
At GA, he stole from his own teammate.
Just one example of his many cheats...... he tried to play the ball of another golfer, until he was called on it.
Then there’s the sh!tty way he treats his parents.
The ‘man’ is disgusting. It’s a damn shame he has a child.
At least Reed is a normal, patriotic American. He never mentions politics, but everyone knows he is on our side.
Hubby and I were fortunate to be there at Hazeltine in 2016 following the exciting match between Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy. Would be just almost as exciting if those 2 go head to head for the win tomorrow at the US Open!
One of many examples...
Patrick Reed, who was already one of the most polarizing players in the world, faces a long year of heckling on the PGA Tour after he was caught improving his lie in a bunker during the Hero World Challenge earlier this year. Reed earned a two-stroke penalty for the gaffe, but denied that he cheated, claiming the violation was an accident.
According to longtime CBS broadcaster Peter Kostis, however, the incident in the Bahamas was not the first, second, or third time that Reed used his club to improve his lie.

He’s not the least bit subtle either.

The 1st youtube remark is priceless...
He should be fined for not pulling a permit for that excavation
That one is a classic.
Thanks. I haven’t been following golf the past few years. That was pretty blatant.
I’ve been watching and I have to say the lack of spectators has made the broadcast enjoyable. No “you da man” or “get in the hole” as the player is teeing off on a 580 yard hole.
Tiger and Phil can sometimes get a little goofy off the tee. That is not good at all at the U.S. Open. If you aren’t in the fairway, you are lucky to make a part.
Yo also can see a lot more of each hole.
I can understand that sometimes on can have a problematic relationship with their parents however, filing a restraining order on your 13-yr old sister. Come on man.
The rough is unbelievable!
Can you imagine how many balls these guys would lose if they didn't have spotters stationed every 20 yards! And more than a few would probably would be hitting another player's ball.

Maybe that’s why Patrick Reed is doing well. :)
“No you da man or get in the hole ...
Agreed, I hate how that stuff came to be part of golf. As a child I loved watching golf on TV because of how the announcers would whisper! It very much made you realize that you were watching a live competition.
Still like to watch, but the bellowing always was out of place.
Not sure how he improved his lie. What exactly did he do?
lol!
