newer school of thought out there that thinks leaving the barrel a little dirty is a good thing

So you're saying that neither firing or cleaning my SW for 6 yrs is a good thing? Yeah, I'll go with that. I can clean it out on Halloween by putting a few down range, right?

I’ve actually been told, by more than one person, that after shooting the rifle at the range, I should leave the bore “dirty” rather than scrub it - that it’ll be more accurate. At first, one would think that’s insane, but I’ve heard it from more than a couple of experienced shooters.

Still, I like a clean bore and I think that if you’re not going to shoot again in a week or two, it should be cleaned. Call me old-fashioned.

6 years? That's nothing. I once found a ten-year-old bug in production code.

...oh wait. "SW" doesn't mean "software"? Never mind.

I am confused. Clean bore vs. Dirty?

How often should a gun be cleaned? I was taught that they should be cleaned at least once after you pull them out of the lake.
