Oh damn lol I thought a Freeper wrote this, I didnt know it was an article.
And when it gets to be too hot, the best place to be and drink cold beer with nothin’ better to do!
I don’t understand either. FICA was paid. The other thing is when medicare kicks in it’ll take all the SS and bite in to my pension as far as I know.
I read at the link you had that the windfall act only applies to pensions where FICA was not paid. Maybe you need a better financial advisor? DH has a pension and will collect full social security
Unless you like incessant wind, -25 as the HIGH temperature for 3 solid weeks every January, 3-5 feet of snow, and a 100 day gardening season, I would recommend someplace just a little less... how can I put this... demanding.
Just some observations and information from a prairie boy.
There are several reasons I moved to the coast. Above are a couple.
Definitely! I’ll join you! :)
Yikes
That is true, SaveFerris.
I once saw three eagles...bald eagles...flying over my house! It was breathtaking.
Thanks. I’ll ask.
Theres a good deal of bicycle activism in some of our cities. Also, if youre into gentrification, Lebrons ferals are worth considering. They throw bricks at bicyclists by day for recreation and do hit and runs at night, which is rarely reported:

Article on the future demographic of bicycle activism:
https://cascade.org/blog/2018/05/gender-disparities-bicycling-small-steps-close-big-gap
It isnt news that there are gender disparities among people who bike. Reports estimate that women make up between 25-30% of bike commuters, and theres even less data on trans, femme, and non-binary riders. Data from local advocacy organizations indicates that gender and race disparities persist in bike activism as well.
Primary hurdles to clear then they will be 100% satisfied, likely to never air a grievance again over anything, especially relating to straight white males. Current grievances relate to severe gaslighting that would give the Hatfields and McCoys PTSD:
Judgement based on what you wear, or how how you look on a bike
Cat calls/ harassment
Cars and people being rude
Loading bike on a bus
Getting passed based on how you look
Not having the right gear
Bike shops can be intimidating
Lack of knowledge (such as, riding speeds, trends, lingo)
Perceptions and realities of cost (gear, nice stuff)
Vehicles in bike lanes
Shock and disbelief by others that you rode a bike
Obviously I'm not a rider or a fan of bicycle riding but the rides around here are spectacular and you can ride year round.
Florida or Tennessee
Any college town near a military base. Probably hard liberal if you can put up with that.
The town will be bicycle friendly, have lots of beer, pizzas and a new crop of female students each year.
The military base will have clubs, PX, commissary, medical service and other like minded military retires with whom you can swap lies . . . . .I mean sea stories.
University of Florida is about 65 miles from NAS Jax.
I’ve driven by Bust, Colorado, pop. 2. At the foot of Pikes Peak (as they said, “Pikes Peak or Bust”).
Germany!
OOPS!,
Scratch the college town. I missed the WIFE part of your post.
Huntsville is not really close to Atlanta. You cant get there from here, and Im not joking. Look at the as the crow flies distance, then the miles driven / hours.
Check out Chico Ca. It is a college town, great beer and a good sized biking population. It is hot in the summer but does not get snow and the winters are nice for riding. It is cali but not the bay area prices.
You would be a couple of hours from the VA hospital in Sacramento but they do have a nice VA clinic there.
I don’t know about the craft beer part, but would suggest looking into southern Utah, nice climate year round, and a lot of places to hike or bike in very scenic country.
You can get beer in Utah, I know, I’ve done it and lived to tell about it.
Mackinac Island.
