They can use the empty water bottles to make molotov cocktails with the gas they also brought.

Molotovs are made with glass bottles so they'll break on impact. If those bottles are made of LDPE they would at least leak, probably dissolve.

1) Plastic bottles not soluble in Petro-chemical liquids
2) Plastic bottles burn up leaving little forensic evidence at scene
3) Pictures of “Gas Cans” in pickup were KEROSENE, not gas.
Gas flares up, while Kerosene (or Deisel) burns more slowly
