Warwickshire firm that made the 2012 Olympic Games torch goes bust

An automotive firm that made the 2012 London Olympic torch has gone into liquidation. Premier Sheet Metals said it blamed "conditions within the automotive sector which were further compounded by the onset of Covid-19". Based in Exhall, Warwickshire, the firm said a fall in sales had affected its cash flow and could no longer trade. It produces sheet metal parts for the automotive sector, which has been struggling throughout the pandemic. The first six months of the year saw the number of cars built in the UK slump to the lowest level since 1954. Premier Sheet Metals also made the 8,000 torches used in the relay that marked the opening of the 2012 games.
