CBS All Access has released the first teaser for its upcoming adaptation of “The Stand.”
The short teaser, clocking in at just 30 seconds, aired during Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards. It briefly shows Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail, introducing herself to Frannie Goldsmith (Odessa Young) in a cornfield and beckoning her, “you come see me at Hemingfoot Home.” From there, it goes on to display eerie deserted streets, distressing hospital moments and even a little bit of levitation.

Hated when they killed him, and Athelstan, too.
All of my snakes friends and I laughed our collective arses off when they threw Ragnar into the pit of “deadly” Ball Pythons, Corn Snakes and assorted Boas.
So far from Vipers you couldn’t even see them from there.

You said Karen Johnson (Whoopie Goldberg), the murderer of 6 of her children through abortions ? Just the thought of having to look at her/it is enough to make me not see this film.

What. I just pulled my copy off the shelf. Now his conversation with his mother about his record makes no sense:
"Also, you did something to your voice. You sound like a n*****."
...
"That brown soun, she sho do get aroun," Larry said, deepening his voice to Bill Withers level and smiling.
I'm surprised they didn't make Randall Flagg into a Donalt Trump clone.

Whoopi Goldberg is a step down. The Mother Abigail of the original TV series, Ruby Dee, was a fine actress and, although a Lefty with strong civil rights credentials, she was unlike Whoopi in being responsible and measured in her public statements and conduct.
Whoopi Goldberg? Nah.
Agree. We are purging our household of things we do not need. The Stand is the only King book we will keep. And I thought the Sinese mini-series version was really good.
