Pro athletes - with their multi-million dollar contracts and the soaring ticket prices (not to mention the hidden costs smuggled into our cable TV bills) - are arguably one of the most blatant examples of social and economic "inequality" that we have, yet they are the ones lecturing US.

And who but a moron can think that it is "unifying" for players to support a movement which declares all white people to be racists and the USA to be irredeemably racist from top to bottom?

Most of the players are privileged ingrates. They will drop this social justice crap the moment their paycheck drops and their lavish lifestyles are threatened.

Your points are apt. They actually demonstrate the absurd betrayal of the players' actual interests by the NFL bureaucracy! Think about it.

Protesting or speaking out is one thing. What is not appropriate is for players making many millions of dollars, being displayed suggesting their race is not being fairly treated in contemporary America!

The players are being manipulated--made to look ridiculous-- by a media & their sycophants, as pawns in an attempted revolution. It calls to mind the French Revolution & the march on the Bastille led by the King's cousin from his enormous Left Bank palace, while dressed in peasant garb!

If Roger Goodell had a functional brain, he would not allow this farce, which can only make the participants look ridiculous.

Virtue signalling? No inappropriate betrayal of reason!! Obvious betrayal of trust.
