There is a map somewhere, maybe on Cal Fire. There isn't much progress to report. Still at 0% containment, and the people I heard from said no evidence of firefighters.
The reason they have fewer firefighters is due to CA is fighting 28 major fires...spreading out 14,000 among them. One of the incident team leads said at briefing last night that they have 1,336 fire fighters on it when they normally would have on a fire that size 3,000-4,000.
To me, that fails to explain why CA hasn’t pulled more personnel from other states. The feds brought in a 2nd top-level incident team from the Great Basinto manage the northern frontline of the fire. But I haven’t heard personnel from other states coming in.
Ok, I was unsure of the terminology: I guess “Evacuation Warning” is the pre-evacuation status you state. I stand corrected.
The CalFire website is stunningly devoid of the kind of visual / graphical information that NWS and a host of others provide routinely for even mild weather events. OK, granted CalFire busy fighting fires, but you’d think the state could at least contract with someone at fairly modest cost to do it.
So far I’ve found only maps of the current (sort of) fire boundary.
Ah, I see that I had skipped right past the “Evacuation Warning” heading above “Oakhurst” as I scrolled down the list. Sleepy... ‘Tis well past my bedtime!
