But a lion had hired the bandits to kill him.

I wonder. Which is all we can do.
I don't understand people (past adolescence) who take significant, unnecessary risks of death. However, that doesn't mean that they don't have an internally consistent worldview in which dying of lions or stingrays or drowning or falling is fully accepted.

He HISSED ears back and swatted me across the face for no apparent reason this has happened twice now in 8 years but it is very bewildering!! I have to wonder if there is just something that happens if a cat wants to be left alone, I talked to my vet the second time this happened I brought him in but there were no health problems so I have to wonder if a big cat could also have a sudden mood swing like that!!!

Now that could be.
If it was a Cape Buffalo I would have no trouble believing it.

Sorry but I'm not buying it.

“Unnecessary” is the key word. If I want another transportation asset - or not to have to drive the young person to work or Your Local Game Store - I have to put in the time with the terrifying teen driver.
Fortunately, Patrick can walk to his job at Walmart, about 2-1/2 miles each way, with sidewalks, tolerably well lit. He’s been coming home safely between 11:00 p.m. and midnight the last week.

It’s always “perfectly safe” until you die.

An acceptable risk as my dad would put it.
