Beyond fear, destiny awaits. Watch the trailer for the highly anticipated #DuneMovie now.

As a complete and total layperson, I thought “The Last Temptation of Christ” was powerful and hard to watch.
Hahaha...that did lighten me up a bitt...Peter will be called “Pat”...
It becomes unreadable too.
At least this rendition will be in two parts, allowing more exposition than the 1980s version.
IMHO David Lynchs version had potential, if not for the behind-the-scenes struggles and ridiculously-compressed storyline.
Dune plus Asimovs Foundation novels are tops on my sci-fi list. Completely addictive for me and I do reread them.
The first Dune movie was a bust. It was way to short to develop the story and unless one was a completely Dune obsessive like me was about impossible to follow. The Dune miniseries had adequate length to tell the story but was held back by the special effects technology. I hope the new movie takes inspiration from the miniseries story telling and has kick ass special effects to bring the story fully alive.
Yeah I gave up on the book and walked out of the movie after the little girl’s nose started bleeding.
Going by the preview, looks like the ruined it.
It's as if the screenwriter is pitching this script, and the producers tell him he has to re-cast one of the white males as a black female. A major male character.
"No."
So back & forth until they settle for a minor character.
Hmmm. Which change will have the least impact: Shadout Mapes - nope, already a woman. Got it - "Liet Kynes".
It was really bad.
But I still think Starship Troopers was even worse. A fun subject to debate over adult beverages- what was the WORST move from a really great book.
SyFy really tried. There was some good acting, I thought, but not an overall vision or enough care with the special effects.
The best science fiction never forgets that people are people, and will still have the same emotions and motivations 10K or 40K years in the future.
The SyFy version had the Bene Gesserit dressed like belles from Gone With The Wind! and the Guildsmen were dressed like wizards from a Disney movie!...........................
Fourth.
There’s “Jodoworowskys Dune” which would have featured Salvatore Dali among others had the actual movie been made. JD covers qll the parts including the hand drawn sets, actors and assorted parts. Worth watching even just for seeing how movie is made.
By 2024, any movie that wants to be eligible for an Oscar must follow strick inclusivity rules etc. At that point all new movies become unwatchable.
as soon as its out it will be streaming even if its just the CAM.
Ugh!
Hope there’s more to the movie than the trailer indicates. The whole ‘feel’ of the trailer was awful IMO.
Starship Troopers was a goof but it made linear sense as a story. Dune was - “surreal”?
“By 2024, any movie that wants to be eligible for an Oscar must follow strick inclusivity rules etc. At that point all new movies become unwatchable.”
Here’s hoping inde’s flourish.
Or, I’ll just dress in drag, darken my face, sport a pink pussy hat, adopt a woke persona, get real drunk and watch a future Hollywood movie.
Or not.
John Spaits is involved I am in.
