I’m torn whether the VAX VMS, or the operating system for the IBM AS/400 was the best ever.
VAX was great for...well, everything; but the AS/400 let you lock down every atom of the machine separately.

The only O/S IBM did that I have exposure too was AIX. One of the great things about VMS was one of the instructions in it’s assembly language let you do polynomial equations. That’s awesome.
