This is terrible and senseless. I dont know the specifics but very bad judgement here.
Ive seen worse. Here in town we have a massive mountain next door. People are rescued about once a week even in the summer, idiots constantly try to hike it in flip flops. Theres bad judgement per above and pure idiocy. Flip flops are pure idiocy.

I was at the Keyhole on the route up to the top of Long's Peak (> 14,000 Ft). I was passed by a couple of guys wearing T-shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes.
But they were from Michigan, so their hubris made perfect sense to me.
